The chuppah represents a Jewish home symbolized by the cloth canopy and the four poles. Just as a chuppah is open on all four sides, so was the tent of Abraham open for hospitality. Thus, the chuppah represents hospitality to one's guests. This "home" initially lacks furniture as a reminder that the basis of a Jewish home is the people within it, not the possessions. Our chuppa has special meanng since the cloth cover is a beautiful tallit (prayer shawl) made by Cindy for Len in honor of this occasion. This section of the website contains photos of the wedding service conducted by Rabbi Mirelman. Cindy and Len were accompanied on the bima (pulpit) by their children and close friends. On the left were Len's daughter Sarah, his brother Ray and Sarah's friend Arrick Pelton. On the right, front to back, were Cindy's son, Daniel, close friend, Deborah Spector, and Cindy's daughter, Becca.
This room has special meaning for Len, who became a bar mitzvah here more than 50 years ago. Cindy and Len have shared many meaningful occasions here and, in a way, met in this very room. A detailed description of the service, can be found in the beautiful wedding program lovingly prepared by Cindy.
