"Yichud" is a Hebrew word meaning "seclusion." Immediately following the wedding ceremony the bride and groom go to a private place for a few moments of peace. While in earlier times there may have been a different purpose, Cindy and I retreated into the Chapel where the caterer provided a light meal. After the intensity of the ceremony, Cindy and I appreciated this chance to begin to appreciate the enormity of the occasion and to catch our breath before joining the waiting guests. Meanwhile, our guests were treated to hors d'oeuvres and wine in the lobby and hallway of the synagogue, before finding their place cards for the luncheon. Needless to say, the photos were taken in the hallway.
